The Peak Design Everyday Backpack is a well constructed, extremely functional bag that I will be using as my primary travel camera bag. I was looking for a bag that could store much of my equipment but wasn’t cumbersome when traveling. I specifically chose the 20L so it would force me to be more judicious in selecting what camera equipment to take on a trip. I am able to pack a camera body and up to three lenses easily in this bag. The side flaps provide ample space to store batteries, cables, filters and other incidentals. I can easily pack a tripod outside of one of the flaps and the attached straps allow me to secure it safely to the backpack. I would highly recommend this bag to any traveling photographer who is looking for a backpack that is compact yet spacious enough to pack all the essentials for an upcoming photo trip!

Definitely expensive, but top quality stuff. That’s pretty much the extent of it. You get a really well made backpack honestly, and I don’t think you’d regret it if you did your homework and know what you’re getting into. I had the 30L, but it was too big so I sold it, and it was top notch quality. It was really an amazing piece of backpack. I have the 10L for my EDC, and it’s really nice too, pricy, but really nice. Spend the money to get something you really like and works for you instead of just messing around with cheaper alternatives. That said, for my means of a backpack I’m looking elsewhere. The 20L is much too small. The size that it’s portrayed at is merely 12L. The 20L is if you have it on the top rung of the maglatch and at that point it almost looks comical. I imagine you could secure the front with a TSA wirelock if you leave one rung free to thread it through as a work around for the security thing. But those were the same gripes that lead me to look elsewhere. The side access, while nice, wears on it’s novelty imo. I rarely used it, I mean rarely. I tried and tried, but it just got too cumbersome imo for side access, especially when the thing is pretty darn heavy. Straps I didn’t have issues, but there are more comfortable backpacks out there that are even heavier (Boundary Supply Prima from what I’ve researched is heavy but very comfortable). I’m currently looking at The North Face for a good travel backpack and just using a Tenba camera cube because I just have a mirrorless system.

There are some great features about this bag, along with some not so great features. Unlike most reviews, I will start with the negatives first. Cons: 1. Like many bag manufacturers, Peak Design seems to equate the size of the bag with the size of the person using the bag. I’m 5’10, broad shouldered, stocky, and the shoulder straps have to be let just about all the way out for me to wear the bag over a winter jacket. I assume they think someone my size will buy the 30L version, but I already have a large bag, and wanted something smaller. So if you are a large individual, try the bag on before buying it. It’s also not as comfortable as other backpack bags, such as the Trailscape 18L by MindShift Gear. 2. The chest strap is unique, but is not really easier to use than a traditional chest strap that buckles in the middle. The Peak Design strap still takes two hands to use if you are putting any pressure on the strap, and you do need to hook the free end of the strap back to the shoulder strap after you release it, as it is quite long. 3. It’s not as easy to arrange the dividers as it is on a traditional backpack bag where you can open the bag and lay it flat. Despite the negatives, I am keeping the bag and will use it for travel. Pros: 1. The bag is essentially a sling type bag, so you can access your stuff without removing the bag or putting it. For me, that is a must for a travel bag. 2. The partitions, which are a nuisance to rearrange, allow great flexibility. It’s the only sling type bag that lets me carry a Fujifilm 50-140 on an X-T2 with the hood in the shooting position. It will also handle the 100-400 on the X-T2, again with the hood in the shooting position. My more normal travel kit is the 35 1.4, 18-55, and 55-200, which most bags can handle. But I can also fit a 14 travel tripod inside the bag. When I travel in a city, I don’t want the tripod on the outside. 3. Many bags claim doesn’t look like a camera bag. It’s been my experience that most bags that are actually camera bags do in fact look like a camera bag (especially backpacks). This bag does not look like a camera bag (at least to me). 4, The bag is well made, and has a multiple of handles on it for easy carrying. Overall, I’m very pleased with the bag.

This is our 2nd Peak Layout Everyday Knapsack. In addition, we additionally have the 30L in Ash that we have been using for our wedding celebration digital photography business for concerning a year currently. We were attracted to the smaller dimension of the 20L (to add in addition to the 30L) and the charcoal color looks extremely sharp too!. We can quickly fit 1 Nikon D750; Nikon 70-200 2.8 and a Nikon 50 1.4 G. That leaves plenty of area in the top area for added items and\/or our electronic camera bands. The side flaps easily hold extra batteries (we put 2 in below), memory cards, phone chargers, and so on. The straps are comfortable and because they both meet in the center, do not diminish of your shoulders with equipment guaranteed. The straps fit, despite having the bag complete as well as putting on for a long time. Altogether, really pleased with the bag and very advise it!

To day, I have never discovered an excellent product – however this one gets to close. This functional backpack is ideal for day-to-day carry, also in the 20L variety, with lots of room as well as adaptable division for cams and also digital tools, or for a weekend break’s worth of clothing.

As a photographer\/videographer by profession and also an enthusiastic traveler by heart, this bag gives sufficient area for my traveling electronic camera gear (a mirrorless package) with a couple of lenses and also even a Rde mic, as well as still has space for my laptop computer as well as different charging devices. Though it fits my demands well (and the general dimension of the bag is a healthy equilibrium of large and also comfy, the 30L variant would almost certainly be needed for a conventional DSLR kit (my Sony a7III barely fits with my laptop computer as well as various other items in the bag) or for more substantial lug. The sleeve fits an Apple MacBook Pro 15\” (retina slim with or without the Touch Bar, sans the disc drive) firmly without much wiggle room, so the naysayers are fair when they take away the laptop sleeve. If you have a thicker laptop computer or require it to fit conveniently alongside a traditional DSLR (such as a Nikon D810), you’ll want the 30L.

My biggest frustration is exactly how snug the side canteen pockets are, even after some flexible stretch. With any significant load inside the pack, the side pockets can expand to fit just one of the most slender of 20mL waterbottles conveniently. That being claimed, all the seams and stitching are of the finest quality, as well as I feel I would certainly be hard-pressed to rip or break the bag by over-stuffing it! The compromise, obviously, being that there’s a little less shake area when stuffing points in the sides than you may discover in a bag with standard mesh flexible side pockets.

Wow, this bag really rocks. I must say the black bag design on this is just stunning. It is built so well, and the inside material is so luxurious, it is insane. I almost cannot wait to go to starbucks with this bag.

Laptop space is just enough to get a MacBook Pro 2017 inside the sleeve, I did put a case on the macbook – and it still was able to slide in there – I use the additional space to carry portable batteries for MacBook – and two cables hang out the bag cover top – looks rad.
You can even by one of those cable wraps for cables- and slide that outside the bag- looks like a transformer.

Rest assured, you are going to look good with this bag, and shows that you care about what you are carrying.

this backpack is a very creative and configurable solution to looking for the holy grail of camera packs. Like most photographers, I have a closet full of bags that I have purchased, but that did not make the grade (too lazy I guess to try sell them on Ebay). This one comes close to being perfect. I especially like that it has so many ways to access the gear, and that it is sooo configurable. whatever your gear is, there is probably a way to make this bag work for it. I debated using a backpack virus a tow along – my back is not great for hauling a lot of weight, but there are many places to go where it is a big pain to try drag a pack behind you. Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality and the immaculate design of this backpack, and would definitely buy it again.

This is absolutely the camera bag that I was looking for, and I bet it would also be good for other things. This bag is a great combination of both form and function, I can only hope that the product will hold up over time.

Pros:
– The bag is very stylish. Very sleek looking design, with modern accents. It definitely looks like an expensive bag.
– Chest strap, waist strap (not much of one, but if you need it, you need it), and luggage handle pass through are nice to have.
– Two hidden straps in the pocket on the front of the bag to strap on a coat or tripod if you need to.
– Extremely customizable. I love the way that this bag was designed. It is basically like someone giving you a bucket of Legos and saying, here, do whatever you want with it. They have suggestions of how it can be used on the website, but you really can achieve a lot more if you use your imagination.
– You can access the main portion of the bag from either the left or right side, depending on what you prefer.
– You can unzip the side openings from either the top or bottom, as there are two zipper pulls on each. (great if the Zhiyun Crane or tripod is blocking access to the top side of the pocket)
– While some bags don’t have side pockets (for water bottles or tripods) on both sides, this one does.
– There are carry handles on the top, and both sides so that you can carry it in any configuration.
– The top buckle allows the top section to expand to fit more or can be clipped down tightly to hold your stuff when needed.
– All of the extra straps and buckles are removable if you really don’t plan to use them
– The velcro shelves can be moved in any orientation and folded in different ways allowing you to be very creative.

Cons:
– The black color that I chose does have a habit of getting scratched, then showing the white marks on the fabric. It’s really strange, if I could, I might be inclined to choose another color.
– I wish that the side pockets were a little bigger to accommodate a slightly bigger (wider) tripod.
– As many have said, $250 won’t get you a rain cover here.
– I suppose I agree with others who say the straps feel stiff, but I don’t think that they are uncomfortable or anything.

Conclusion:
I love this bag. It looks good, but more than that, it can be configured to fit whatever gear I’m carrying.

I love the bag, because it’s comfortable, the security latching system allows me to feel confident in public no one is attempting to get into my bag. The storage compartments within are fantastic and finally the bag is just large enough for my fujifilm camera and gear with the addition of small tripods and flash units. If one is carrying a lot of gear or multiple DSLR cameras with lenses this bag may create some issues. The 20L on a larger frame body might feel small as well, so that’s something keep in mind. Fits my 15″ MacBook Pro much better than the Peak Design Everyday Messenger bag did, as it’s easier now to retrieve the laptop from the bag.

This backpack is amazing! I’ve used it already for a weekend trip to Chattanooga and for a week long conference in Orlando. It is the perfect size for small to midsize laptops and all the necessary accoutrements associated. The interior adjustable separators are awesome to keep things organized so you don’t have to fish around for the item you are searching for. Also the side entry compartments are awesome at the airport to keep your cell phone, wallet, and boarding pass super accessible. My husband bought the larger size backpack awhile ago so I sort of knew that I would be happy, but it just exceeds my expectations at all corners. I also love the professional look and feel to this backpack, I can bring this from the airport to the boardroom without compromising on style or comfort.

Best bag I’ve had for any occasion. Perfect for travel, school, and its specialty, photography. It keeps everything organized and the compartments are great. I’ve had it for a while now it and still looks new and you can wash it easily with some soap and a slightly abrasive sponge for those hard to get stains. I use it for everything. The dividers included are very durable and the bag is customizable I can’t find anything I don’t like about this bag.

Simply put, this product and company is great! Me: I’m a photographer. I need equipment that is reliable and durable day in/ day out. Peak Design ticks all those boxes! The moment you touch the bag you can tell the different from other bags in quality and style. But don’t let the style fool you, this bag is strong! I have taken this bag on shoots/events in the city and then to the forests. I have been in massive thorn bushes to capture birds and the bag did not rip, get scratched, or any visible damage. Last thing, great weight distribution and weather resistant material. The price might deter a lot of people, I know. But just like your camera, invest into it! It will last. Maybe my grandkids might even use it, who knows!? Think of it this way. If you had a $3000 camera would you put it in a plastic bag? Or even an Amazon’s Choice $50 camera bag? All options are decent, except the plastic bag, don’t do that. But you get what you pay for.

Keep it up Peak Designs! I have never written a review before. This bag had exceeded my expectations more than I could ever imagine.

Having a great time with this product – took it on my first business trip and it fit everything for my laptop and presentation needs. Also took it on another trip with the drone and camera gear, which required only small reconfig of the panels and had it perfect in minutes. So far, been very impressed with the feel on my back even when fully loaded, the access to pockets and overall feel. Highly recommend!

The quality and versatility of this backpack is amazing. I would consider myself a beginner in the world of photography and this bag just made me feel secure about my possessions and the looks are stunning! There’s just so many little neat tricks and features that you can do with this bag and the fact that it’s waterproof just adds that cherry on top. It may be pricey, but it’s coming from a crowdfunded only business and the craftsmanship of this bag is really good. You won’t regret this safe investment.

I purchased a Peak Design leash camera strap after a friend recommended it. I really love the strap and was in the market for a backpack that would be suitable for work, travel, and every day. This hits the spot. It’s not too masculine but just right. It’s not very heavy and the straps move with you. Everything has a place and is moveable. I am highly impressed with this backpack and I’m looking forward to a long life with it. Oh, and it has a lifetime warranty! So awesome!

I find backpacks easier to tote my camera gear than other styles, and am forever in search of good backpacks. I like this one but it’s not perfect. First the good: it’s well made. In the unlikely event you have durability issues, PD stands behind it’s lifetime warranty so no worries there. The good zippers and hook and ladder main opening keeps your belongings secured from pickpockets. It has lots of dividers and the wing style side openings invite you to customize the bag however suits you best. Really, you are only limited by your imagination. It’s comfortable to wear, even when full. The straps are flexible. Now the bad: it’s high priced, nearly twice what I paid for other backpacks. The black color is not only unattractive, it’s grim. I softened mine up with stickers and patches so it doesn’t look like it was issued by the local police dept. The 20L barely holds my camera gear. I only pack one mirrorless body, three lenses and some batteries and lens wipes and I could barely cram them in. Add a wallet, keys, phone and personal small items and the bag is stuffed to bursting. Don’t get me wrong, I like this bag very much and I intend to keep it. Just realize it doesn’t hold much gear and consider another color other than black.

ried for several weeks to make this bag work. I am an Olympus Pro and wanted a bag that would hold my OM-D system, multiple lenses and my laptop (Eve V). Laptop slot is too tight, can’t put a laptop in there in a slim case, very difficult to put in and out. The fancy dividers just won’t fit tight enough to keep my lenses from rattling around. I watched their videos, talked to customer support, it finally became obvious that the designers all use full frame cameras with battery grips. I looked at a number of other brands and found that both Tenba and Pacsafe make better bags for M4/3 systems and they are slightly less expensive. Ended up buying from my local camera store (San Jose Camera) because they helped me test everything in multiple bags and worked with me on figuring out the internal dividers to minimize rattle and max protect.

Note, their videos all make it look so easy BUT doesn’t really work that way in real life.

Pros:
– Organization is awesome. Love the flex dividers
– Looks awesome. Feels solid
– Swinging the bag around the side off my shoulder and grabbing my camera/changing lenses is one of my favorite workflows
– Lots of little pockets and bonus features, like the magnet that holds the outside bottle pockets closed when not in use

Cons:
– Heavy. It’s like carrying an extra laptop with you versus a normal backpack! Would not recommend as a commuter/day bag
– Poor back support. Straps are not the most comfortable.
– It looks cool when the top latch is all the way down, but IMO it looks funky when you need to expand the top compartment
– Really hard to carry something medium-sized, but that’s part of the design

This is an amazing bag. I traveled 38 countries in 1 year, using the bag every day. It held up wonderfully, basically no wear at all. At the end of this marathon of abuse the top zipper broke. I submitted a warrantee claim, expecting to send it in for repairs. 10 minutes later I get an email that they are sending me a new bag.

I used it to carry my Mavic drone, DSLR, GoPro, MacBook Pro, Ipad, flex-tripod, and about 3 external hard drives… I used the outside straps to attach all sorts of junk. Makes 20L feel like 40L.

Amazing bag!

So first off, this is a beautiful backpack. The materials used to make it are of a very high quality and the bag feels great to handle and wear. The bag is as advertised and very versatile, the handles in particular were amazingly designed.

That being said, I did end up returning it. My only complaints are its versatility as an everyday bag. I found the laptop compartment very well protected but, with a 15 inch macbook pro, it was very hard to get the laptop back out. Secondly, it seems that you have to choose between using the wonderfully designed dividers or using that space for documents/notebooks. As I am not a photographer, I mostly needed a laptop bag with space for a folder and my gym shoes. The bag can of course be used without the dividers, but it felt redundant to buy such an expensive and specialized bag but not utilize its best features. I hope they set their sights on an everyday commuter bag soon!

I have been using this backpack for around 18 months. It has a great design, very eye-catching, and of high quality. But, it is very rigid on your back and a little bit heavy, thus it gets painfull in long carrying sessions.
My main issue is the back mesh. After around 6-8 months, it will start wearing off and expose the padding underneath it. For a low-end backpack, I would be fine with it, but for such an expensive and excellent piece of design, this is not the best Peak Design could offer.
On the bright side, they are nailing it when it comes to customer service! I got a new one after reaching out to them online pretty quick.

Very well-designed versatile pack, with a design unlike any other pack I have seen or owned, accessible from the top or from the sides. I have mine configured to carry my 4×5 view camera, film holders, lens, and associated items. But I can easily shift the dividers to use it as a non-photographic daypack when I am flying on family trips. It is too new for me to evaluate durability, but based on the build quality I have no doubts that it will prove very durable.

Best photo bag I’ve ever owned. Love the dividers and super easy access from either side.You can really fit everything in this bag. I carry two Nikons, two extra zoom lens, flash, hoods. So many configurations possible. I don’t like the top section being open to the bottom as small things may slide down but bought a field bag from PD to carry little extras in and it fits in the top perfectly.

Awesome camera bag! Took it on my first photography trip, and held up really well! Was able to carry 2 DSLR bodies along with a telephoto zoom, a general zoom, prime lens, filters, drink bottle, gorilla pod, 15″ MacBook pro and still have room in the bag thanks for the expanding top! Side access panels make it easy to get your gear out from your bag while you’re on the move. Heaps of customisability with the dividers in the bag to organise the main compartment however you want, and lots of nice little compartments all around the bag to store pens, memory cards, cleaning clothes earphones, etc. Highly recommended!

Purchased this through peak design a little after release. The bag is really nice looking with great little touches. but the shoulder strap is absolute trash. Let me clarify, its thin, so if you have weight on your back the strap doesnt distribute the weight in a comfortable way. And if theres not a lot in there the lack of grip on the strap makes it slide around a little. I might be spoiled because i also use an incase ari marcopoulos bag and that bag is almost perfect for me, but its also double the cost. If this bag was $99 id say its worth it and i could live with the strap.

One of the greatest bags that i ever saw and experienced!
It is completely flexible, if you want to carry camera gear, just adjust it to your needs. If you want to carry everyday things like clothes, shoes just adjust it. I use to change the things inside very often and it is no problem and doesn’t last a long time. I am cycling a lot with it and i had no problems since getting if, the quality is exceptional. I am often ask where i bought the bag, cause it is a very stylish one.
Additionally it is very comfortable cause it is customizable in a very good way and forms to your back perfectly. I’d absolutely recommend this bag to anyone who wants a bag that fits into any sorounding.

I really wanted to like this as an organizer for the essentials-things I want to have in my main bag but also have accessible if I don’t want to or can’t carry my full size backpack. For smaller items it might be fine but when I tried adding sunglasses, backup battery for my smartphone, etc the envelope design didn’t work out. Really nice design and construction though. And it’s fairly expensive.

I think this is a very nice bag. Well made without question. The slide on the strap is probably my favorite feature. My criticism is that there just is not enough padding for the sling on the shoulder. After awhile, you just feel it pressing down and your need to switch shoulders. I have used many different bags and the only ones that allow distribution of weight are bags that have a waist belt.

This is a very well made case, which is reflected in the price. I wasn’t sure if this would provide the value to me it cost, so was pre-disposed to be disappointed by it. That all said, I’ve found it to be my favorite cable and gadget organizer to date. I work remotely, so my computer bag is my office most of the time. This organizer makes for an easy to use and effective way to manage my bag. I’ve stopped using my bag’s internal organization and feed everything to this seemingly bottomless bag. It’s a big larger than I expected it would be but that has been more of a plus than minus in the time I’ve had it.

Clever design. The versatility of the carry design is why I bought it . Fit and finish is great. The improved zipper moves effortlessly. The slide adjust holds better than my slide camera strap. The size is perfect. Anything bigger would be too heavy if you fill it up with gear. It’s perfect for a day trip for shooting or just every day carry. Might be tight for a tablet (iPad) and camera setup. C’est la vie.

I was sold on this bag after watching a review. It’s a last forever large duffle with a bit of organization. I do weekend trips a lot and I use two bags, this hold all my clothes with room to spare and a backpack holds all my electronics etc. Though to be honest you could probably put everything in this one duffle.

The handle is definitely weird like chase Reeves says, but I hold it flat side down layered on top of each other and it doesn’t really bother me. It almost seems intended that way because then the logo shows on top.

Anyway, 9.5/10 bag does everything it claims to do and will definitely outlast me.

The Peak Design’s Everyday Backpack V2 is incredibly impressive! I have put it to use in the field of photography and practically gear, it works wonderfully. It’s well suited for carrying a camera along with some lenses, a laptop and other important things without being too heavy or bulky.

The pivoting shoulder straps are a game-changer — super comfortable even when the bag is fully loaded. The weatherproof material is great for peace of mind when I’m out shooting in unpredictable weather. The FlexFold dividers are brilliant, letting me organize my gear exactly how I need it, whether for photography or everyday use.

This bag is stylish , practical and incredibly durable.
