An API can exist but still be unusable for the buyer’s volume or timing. Which limits matter?
Accepted answerDefine required endpoints, records, direction, volume, freshness, concurrency, batch size, pagination, and peak demand. Then verify rate limits, quotas, throttling behavior, retry guidance, bulk methods, change notices, deprecations, monitoring, support, and pricing. Test the buyer’s highest credible scenario. The service standards should be measurable, following the outcome model in FAR Subpart 37.6.
