An option can avoid a new procurement, but it should not automatically renew weak performance. What should the review cover?

    Accepted answer

Confirm that the option is still within scope, funded, timely, and authorized; that the need remains; that performance and compliance are acceptable; and that price and terms remain advantageous under the applicable rules. Review incidents, service levels, security changes, subcontractors, user needs, and exit readiness. Record the decision before notice deadlines. FAR Subpart 17.2 provides the federal option framework.

Would weak support performance alone be enough reason not to exercise the option if the software still works?
